Alexandra 5.14.2010

Alexandra came to me a couple months ago and needed a prom dress. She gave me the freedom to make her any dress I want. So I made her this popular drapy peach color chiffon dress: easy to wear, light and flowry. Remind me of the 1930's/40's glam.
She live in Pa but she flew into NYC to see friends, so made it easy for us to meet.
The pics below are from our last meet/fitting. We had a little fun prancing around and taking a few pics.

LOVE my job!!!

A little Update

I went through a friend's blog post at Bespoke Affairs about Vera Wang designing a line for David's Bridal and was wondering "where have I been?". The news came out April 20th, a month ago. So realized that I have been working tirelessly for the past month. It had been a gruesome month of hard labor: staying up til midnight everynight, had a stiff neck for 1 week and a bit of a sore throat the past few days had me going through the cabinets looking for VITAMINs!!haha
I love every bit of this. That's why I want to thank everyone who have trusted me to be part of their wedding day, prom, Bat Mitzvah... It's been a wonderful 1st year by myself. More than I can hope for for a brand new business. I had been working in the industry for the past 10 years and never have I been as happy as I am right. Working with everyone and making dreams come alive is pretty magical.

Some people have asked why I don't mass-produce and go big?
Quite honestly, I've worked for big companies and once the business gets bigger, every Monday morning, it's all about the sales/money report. My passion is crafting dresses, pretty things. Once it's bigger, I will be too busy managing. I kinda like being a designer: playing with my camera once in a while if I feel like it (sorry I am not the best photographer ..for now). I get to interact with my clients which is something I never ever got to do. Real world of fashion: We sketch behind the computer, send it overseas and really don't get to see much til it's finished and deliverd onto the selling floor. pretty sad.
Now starting my 30's, I feel very accomplished, even though my business is really just "me" and some help sometimes. But nothing beats an email inquiry at least once a week telling how they love my work! What more can any designer ask for?

Rock your Wedding!!

Adrienne, event planner had asked me back in December if I wanted to participate in a photoshoot with a few other wedding venders and of course I instantly said "YEEEESS"!!!
The idea is very appealing..the storyline was even better:
** Young innocent suburban girl runs away with "Rock 'n Roll" boyfriend to NYC and they get marry. The idea of this dress was to still be pretty, but different. The dress consist of 2:
1) Under short basketweaved chiffon dress with raw ends of the strands hanging out assymetrically. This is meant to be the "short and funky" party dress she'll party ALL night in.
2) Longer skirt to go over the shorter dress for a more "traditional bride" look even though she is not anymore. Skirt is entirely covered with loosely hand scrunched & sewn yards of silk chiffon and tulle over satin.

Please take a look all the other wonderful and talented people that participated.
Danny Weiss for photography
Bespoke Affairs for coordination
Denise Fasanello Floral Design for the bouquet
Sally Duvall for makeup
Stacy Pitt for hair
Artikal for bridal hats & veils
Red Carpet Boutique in downtown Millburn, NJ for accessories
Anna Beckman for calligraphy
Timeless Films for video (which we will be sharing at a later date)

We were also featured on Rock'n Roll Bride. Check it out!!

SPICE UP the FAVORS

How many weddings have you been to?? I had as many as 10 in 1 year (the most) and I am sure you do too. What do you do with all those favors you can't use?? Can't throw them away because you'll feel quilty... ???

Well, I came across this shop on ETSY and just had to share with everyone. These are spices all in cute tiny little tin cans. All SO PERFECT used separately as wedding favors. You can set them all up on tables and everyone can choose their favorite spices OR name tag them to who you think will love that spice. A great way to get to know your friends a little better. More personal and definitely very useful. So if you or you know someone that's getting marry, remember these cute little SPICE UP items.

Also, check out her blog for awesome recipes for you to try.
